The scope of work was to refurbish the diesel storage tanks at the Katherine Power station. the tanks required varying works. All repairs were to the tanks comply with API 653. All repairs required NDT post welding. 100% Magnetic particle testing and 100% vacuum box testing, and hydrotesting to certify repairs. SIMPEC were awarded further SMP repair works on the tanks subsequent to the successful completion of initial works completed for Territory Generation.

Client Overview

Territory Generation is the Northern Territory’s largest wholesale electricity producer, owning and operating eight power stations. Utilising gas, diesel and solar technologies to generate electricity for the Territory’s major population centres and maintain generation reliability. A provider for wholesale electricity, focusing on transitioning the fleet to supply the Northern Territory’s power systems reliably and sustainably.

Scope of Work

Mechanical/Structural/Piping Installation & Repair Works to Diesel Storage Tanks:

  • Cut & remove tank (15m Dia) floor island
  • Installation & welding of new tank floor (5.3T steel)
  • Full External Shell and Roof
  • Tank Signage
  • Tank Annular Plate Sealing Works
  • Mechanical works
  • Bund Floor Sealing Works
  • Hydrotesting Tank
  • All tank internal works completed under CSE permits
