The WADCD project was approved by Rio Tinto Limited (ASX:RIO) to sustain current mine capacity at 35 Mtpa, as a replacement high grade ore source for depleting deposits at the West Angelas mine site in Western Australia. West Angelas is a large iron ore deposit located approximately 110km west-northwest of Newman, and 1200km north-northeast of Perth, Western Australia. The project value is presently estimated at $579 million (USD). ATCO Structures and Logistics Pty Ltd have been engaged to complete construction of temporary accommodation facilities for the project for use by Rio Tinto Limited and their subcontractors. In total these facilities will cater for ~600 employees.
SIMPEC will fulfill a key Mechanical, Electrical and Communications contract in the construction of the two accommodation facilities.
