Pilgangoora Lithium-Tantalum Project (Pilgangoora Project), with a current resource of 226Mt. The resource is geographically situated approximately 120km South SouthEast of the major port of Port Hedland in Western Australia’s Pilbara Region. Building off the existing Stage 1 (2Mtpa) operation, the Project involves debottlenecking, stability and redundancy brownfield works as part of continuous improvement to operational performance of the processing facility (Project).

The debottlenecking scope includes the installation of a new filter press, HMS bypass and Floatation Feed Tank to be installed.

Client Overview

Pilbara Minerals is an ASX-listed lithium company, owning 100% of the hard-rock lithium operation. Located in Western Australia’s resourcerich Pilbara region, the Pilgangoora Operation produces a spodumene concentrate. The significant scale and quality of the operation has attracted a consortium of high quality. While it continues to deliver a low-cost, quality spodumene to market, Pilbara Minerals is pursuing a growth and diversification strategy to become a sustainable, low-cost lithium producer and fully integrated lithium raw materials and chemicals supplier in the years to come.

Pilbara Minerals is positioned to become a major player in the lithium supply chain, with the increasing demand for clean energy technologies such as electric vehicles and energy storage as the world pursues a sustainable energy future.

Scope of Work

SIMPEC’s scope of work for this contract was a full vertical package to construct a New Filter Press and Building, Floatation Tanks, Circuit Bypass and Met Samplers which includes installation of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, electrical and instrumentation (E&I) works which will be handed over to the client’s commissioning team.

Works include:

• Supply, installation of concrete, reinforcement and also Bondek fora suspended slab on the filter building.

• Installation of HDPE, Rubber lined, Carbon steel and Stainless StellPipe

• Cladding installation to the filter building

• Site wide E&I works including installation of MCC, VSD and DB.

• Structural steel supply and installation

• Installation of mechanical items including pumps.

This contract was established due to SIMPEC’s unwavering focus on ensuring our customer needs are met and our teams work safely each and every day.
