Project Overview

date completed
August 2019

Tianqi is increasing its LHM, (Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate), production capacity by 20,000 tpa LCE, (Lithium Carbonate Equivalent) in 2018 as part of Stage 1, and a further 20,000 tpa LCE in 2020, as part of Stage 2, to capture a significant market share of the forecast demand growth. The production of LHM will be from a world class, state-of-theart integrated Lithium Hydroxide Process Plant (LHPP) that will process spodumene ore from the Talison Greenbushes operation which is 51% owned by Tianqi.

In summary, the spodumene will be calcined followed by sulphate roasting, leaching and purification, before being crystallised and dried to produce high purity LHM that will be exported to Tianqi customers globally.
